Chinese Language

Students from around the world flock to China to study Chinese and the number is increasing rapidly. Many students are motivated by the business and economic opportunities that Chinese proficiency brings. Some have an interest in Chinese history and culture, and others are up for the intellectual challenge that the Chinese language is famous for.

Classroom Environment

Chinese learning programs in China have the intensity to help students succeed, and allows students to be immersed in the language, forcing them to use it on a daily basis. While there are many high-quality programs in North America and Europe, none of them have these unique benefits. Studying in China is the most effective way to attain language proficiency no matter what a student’s goals are.

Except for beginner classes, most Chinese classes are held only in Chinese and Chinese becomes the common language in a classroom filled with international students. This means that all explanations, examples and class discussions are usually conducted in Chinese.  Though Chinese teachers are strict compared to North American and European ones, they take great pride in their student's success and give positive encouragement to students to progress.

Chinese in Daily Life

Living in China naturally presents countless opportunities to use Chinese. English fluency is fairly rare in China and daily interactions, including asking directions, ordering food, and paying rent are generally conducted in Chinese. This may seem intimidating at first but it allows students the daily opportunity to practice what they learn in class.

Students usually find that using Chinese to navigate life in China is a great way to keep motivation high and keep progress coming. Living in China while studying the language allows students to see the fruit of all their hard hours spent studying. This kind of payoff is impossible to get outside of China, where a student stops speaking Chinese as soon as he or she leaves the classroom.

Local Friends

One of the biggest advantages of studying Chinese language in China is the opportunity to make Chinese friends. Perhaps as much as attending class, spending time with friends and speaking Chinese with them is the only way to become an expert in the language. Local friends can help students adjust to their town or city and help them learn how to get around, make purchases, and run errands.

Foreign students often meet with Chinese students regularly and become language partners. The foreign student is interested in learning Chinese while the Chinese student is studying a language that the foreign student speaks, and the two meet to study, help each other with homework, and practice speaking their target languages...
