Interview Record: Hunan University

Host: Teacher Wei is here with us to introduce Hunan University.

Wei JianPing: Thank you. Hello to all the viewers. Hunan University, located in Changsha, is one of the oldest universities in China. Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Industrial Design, Software Engineering, and Business and International Trade programs are some of our strongest points. We now have more than 500 international students and we are still looking forward for more next year.
 

Host: What are the special features of your university?

Wei JianPing: Specialized subjects are philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management, medical, and other 10 disciplines. Hunan University is a comprehensive university that has a solid foundation for science, strong power for engineering, a strong unique cultural background for humanities, distinctive economic and management disciplines, and multidisciplinary and coordinated development.

Host: What are the courses offered to international students？

Wei JianPing: There are a lot of classes taught in English, it comes with English books too. We also have non-degree courses for students who just want to learn Chinese language, culture and short courses. Moreover, there’s also one called Chinese Bridge—Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign college students. The 7th and 8th Competition was held in Hunan. And for this year competition, Hunan universtiy will hold it. This is a very good opportunity for any foreign to practice their Chinese and also to interact with different kinds of people.
 

Host: Let’s talk about scholarship.

Wei JianPing: We have a lot of scholarship offer. And if you are an excellent student, you have bigger chance of getting one.

 

Host: School environment is also important to our students. What can you tell them about it?

Wei JianPing: Well, regarding school dormitories, we offer them hotel style service which cost anout 60-80 kuai a day. You can also rent a place outside the uiversity which is most likely the wisest way to save money. Regarding transportation, you don’t have to worry because the university is surrounded by banks, hospitals, bus stations and its near the airport and train station. Moreover, we have wide selection for food and beverages. It doesn’t cost as expensive as the price in Beijing. We also provide a nice studying environment to all the students, where in we have student organization for both local and foreign students.
