Application Guide

Applying through CUCAS, you only need to follow the instructions listed, and you will successfully submit your application directly to your intended China's university and get the results of your application as quickly as possible.

1. Register a CUCAS account

It is necessary to register a CUCAS account before starting online application. With a personal account, you can collect your favourate schools/ courses and save them in your account; you can directly apply for China's university and use all CUCAS application services.

2. Search courses / Search schools

You can click Course Search to directly search for courses; you can also see China's universities by locations  and List of China's universities to choose the university wanted, and then find the course prefered. If you find a number of courses that you like, CUCAS may help you compare and collect information to help you quicken the application process.

3. Apply online: Fill out the application form online, upload the required documents and pay application fee

Please do not try to look for or download paper-based application forms.

Carefully browse the course information/ entry requirements, and then click the button to get started your online application on CUCAS.  You will need to fill out the application form online, upload the electronic documents requested by the school (we recommend you to prepare the scanned or photo copies in advance), and pay the application fee (see CUCAS Payment Method). During this process, you can always exit the system anytime. When you want to continue your application, you can log on and click on the "Continue" button to continue.

Online Application Steps:

Within finishing these six steps, you'll submit you application directly to the university admission office: Step 1. Pre-application; Step 2. Fill out Application Form; Step 3. Upload Attachments; Step 4. Verifying; Step 5. Pay application fee; Step 6. Finished.

Step 1. Log in/ Register

You will be asked to log in or register before filling out application form. You only need to register ONCE to apply for ALL China's schools, manage all your applications, track progress and get admission results.

Step 2. Fill out Application Form

You will need to fill out the online application form in this step.

  • Basicly, you need to provide your personal information, such as full name, nationality, address, etc, and your education background. Please double check your mailing address, which would be used as your admission documents delivered information.
  • In addtional, you may be asked to provide information of your financial guarantor, guarantor in China, and name of emergency contact person.
  • Please realise that online application form might be one page to several pages, and you need to fill in all the blanks on each page unless specially mentioned.
  • In some cases, as shown in the picture belowing, you have to fill in the blanks with your educational experience, from high school to higher education. It will be required to click "Submit" to save each educational experience, and the saved information would be shown the same webpage as well.
  • If you have filled in all the blanks correctly, click "Save & Next" to next step: Upload Attachments.
  • All the information you've submitted would be saved in your personal center on CUCAS. When you start to apply for another course in a different university, you will not be asked to provide the same information. Your saved information would be automatically exported and filled in the new application form.

Step 3. Upload Attachments

Upload the electronic documents requested by the school (CUCAS recommends you to prepare the scanned or photo copies in advance). The page will display a list of materials you need to upload. For example, you must submit a photocopy of your passport, so please scan your passport and upload the file under "Passport Photocopy".

  • Firstly, you should select file's type you would upload.
  • Secondly, click on button of "Browse" and choose the file you'd like to upload in your PC.
  • Then, you need to click button of "Upload"; a message of "Submitted" indicates that your files have been successfully uploaded.
  • When uploading additional application documents, please make sure that the size of every file won't exceed 500KB to ensure a successful upload.
  • A form will appear listing all of your uploaded files – you may delete any file. Please note that it is important that you choose the correct file type for each submission.
  • Finally, click "Save & Continue" and go to next step: Verifying.
  • If you have not prepared the necessary application materials, you can click "Save" and exit the application. Your application has been saved in your CUCAS account and you can click "Continue" to continue uploading documents at any time.
  • Due to differences in internet speed, uploading each document may take several seconds or minutes. Please make sure that the size of every file won't exceed 500KB to ensure a successful upload. You can use software programs like Photoshop to adjust the size of an image file to fit this limit.

Step 4. Verifying

Check and preview application.

  • Firstly, please carefully check over the school's name, program title, course length, program time, school location, application fee and tuition fee.
  • Then you may download your application form in word format with clicking the link of "Application form preview". Check to see if all information is correct. This application form is for preview only, and any modification in this document won't be saved. If you want to make a modification, please click botton of "Modify" below.
  • To verify attached files, click the file name, download to your PC and preview the document.
  • You may add you words in the blank of "Addtional information for the admission office".
  • After you have confirmed that there are no mistakes, click "Save & Continue" and go to next step: Make Payment.

Step 5. Pay application fee

You should pay for your application fee in this step. If you are first time using CUCAS to apply, you need to pay for CUCAS processing fee - 30 U.S dollars, which would cover your six times of applications on CUCAS. In the next five applications, you will not be asked to pay for CUCAS processing fee. About how to make payment, please browse CUCAS Payment Methods.

Step 6. Finished

Please take note that only after you have successfully paid the application fee and received the confirmation from CUCAS, that's the only time where the school will start processing your application. Scholarship candidate qualifications will only be evaluated on the basis of successful school admission.

4. Track the progress of your application

After successfully uploading required documents and paying the application fee, the school will begin to process your application. All you need to do is regularly log on to your personal page to view the application status. The university usually needs 4 to 8 weeks time to process the application, but it also depends on the university (Beijing Language and Culture University only takes 2 weeks). Please wait patiently.

5. Get result of application

Once the decision is made by the university, your application results will be displayed instantly on your personal page – the school deals with the results pages, at the same time, CUCAS will automatically send a notification to your registered email. The university might take several working days (5-15 days) to send your Admission Letter and visa application form (JW201/JW202 form).
