Contest Method
- The contest consists of preliminary, semi-final, and final contest, which are distinct by process. Final Ten candidates will win the honorary title –“2010 Mandarin Star of Overseas Students in Beijing Colleges”.
- It strives to gain the bigger breakthrough than the 1st contest in content. And last year’s talent show is changed into various Chinese practical applications, which is a great trial for participants to use language flexibly.
- Our invited expert jury on-site will preside the result for each round by giving scores according to the contestants' comprehensive performance. The inspection content of each round is Chinese practical application and knowledge Q & A. The whole reviews process is completely transparent.
Contest Content
Preliminary Contest:
Match Time: April. 24th and 25th, 2010
Match Place: Beijing Foreign Studies University
- Reading: Participants are required to read their own writing Chinese works in no less than 200 words.
- Optional Talent show: including reading, storytelling, lectures, allegro, tongue twisters, skits, songs, Peking Opera, Chinese sitcom comedy, proposition mini-debate competitions. Performances related to participants’ own life experiences are especially encouraged. Each performance should be limited within 6 minutes.
- All participants are divided into sub-felids by lot and 60 of them can enter the semi-final.
Semi-final Contest:
Match Time: May. 15th and 16th, 2010
Match Place: To be decided
- Participants are required to answer questions and mimic a role in a Chinese movie or TV show which selected onsite;
- Talent Show on costumes, which could be the same one as performed at preliminary contest.
- All the 60 participants are divided into 2 sub-fields to compete for the 18 quotas entering the final contest.
Final Contest:
Match Time: May. 29th, 2010
Match Place: To be decided
- "Beautiful Scenery in Beijing": Participant is required to introduce an assigned topic of Beijing scenic spot by drawing lot. 16 participants will enter the next round.
- Live show: "My Favorite Chinese Song", Sing a Chinese song and explain why it your favorite. 4 participants will be eliminated and 12 ones pass to the next round.
- Live acting: "I sell Beijing Snacks (Specialty goods)". Participant pretends to be a shopkeeper selling a kind of Beijing snacks or special good, which will deliver the "Top 10 Mandarin Stars, 2010".
