Baotou Light Industry Vocational Technical College，under the control of the Municipal Government of Baotou，Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China，is the only light industrial higher vocational College，a leading cultural unit and an advanced col1ective here．
There are nine departments and three ministries in the College．That is，International Education Center, Dairy Engineering Department，Biological Engineering Department，Art and Design Department，Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Department，Electronics and Information Engineering Department, Light Chemical Engineering Department，Economy and Management Department，Print and Pack Engineering Department，Ministry of Basic Education，Ministry of Adult Education，and Ministry of Vocational Studying．There are more than twenty—three specialties in all，such as dairy engineering，industry analysis and testing，NC Technology，Industrial and Commercial Management，Designing and Making for Advertisement．Of a11 the specialties，Dairy Product Craft is originally created in China by the College．What’s more，Industrial Analysis and Testing and the Diary Engineering are two Brand Specialties of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region。
Baotou Light Industry Vocational Technical College is the first higher education school of Inner Mongolia to successfully implement education collaboration with South Korea. College since its inception has always insisted on the concept of pioneering and innovation, conscientious scholarship, international exchange, talented cast. Until now it has become a well-known comprehensive vocational and technical college of Inner Mongolia in light of the light industry education. Institute of International Education Center has just been established in December 2008, but as early as the end of 2006 our leaders of great discernment has been aware of the significant prospects of international exchange and education collaboration, and has started a brand new exploration in this field. In such short period of time of more than three years, our college has achieved a great success in international exchange and education collaboration.
Our college focuses on the active introduction of foreign high-quality educational resources. Since May 2007, our college has established friendly relations with South Korea Kwangju Women’s University, Kunsan National University Korea, South Korea Woosuk University, Institute of Food Technology in Mongolia, Marietta College in America, Bates College in America, Institute of Science and Technology in Singapore, etc. We have discussed and negotiated about the issues of education collaboration, exchange visits, exchange of teachers, training model, etc and signed a letter of intent.
Our Center actively introduces advanced education philosophy, education ideology, course structure, high-quality teaching methods and curriculum evaluation system. We also focus on foreign language teaching reform and strengthening foreign language training, especially put forth effort on improving the students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing in order to lay a good language foundation for students to go abroad for further study. In October 2007, the South Korea native teacher came to China, and Korean language classes have started since then. Since February 2008 we have started sending students to South Korea for further study, so far three batches of a total of 22 students have been successfully sent to study in South Korea Kwangju Women's University, Kunsan National University Korea, South Korea Wonkwang University, Chonbuk National University Korea, South Korea Lingnan University. Now Center is intensifying the current efforts to do a good job in the enrolling and teaching work for the students of preparatory department to go to South Korea and the students to learn Korean language. We are also actively applying for the establishment of business Korean language major and the education collaboration project on beauty-professional major with South Korea Kwangju Women's University. From 2007 through the present, a total of 17 foreign students from South Korea or Mongolia have come to our college to study Chinese. Center has customized the Chinese language courses for them, and the students have made obvious progress in their Chinese. In the process of cooperation and exchange, Center has accumulated a certain amount of experience in foreign teacher management, foreign student management, and teaching Chinese as a foreign language, etc., which has laid a good foundation for the further development of Sino-foreign education collaboration in our college.
Center will, as always, give prominence to the feature of international; open up channels of diversified cooperative education; adhere to the active introduction of high-quality educational resources; introduce external mature advanced concepts of education, educational methods, and educational model to our college, in order to promote education reform and to improve the popularity of our college. We will keep on fighting!
