Taizhou University is a public comprehensive higher institution, approved by the Ministry of Education and administrated by Taizhou city and Zhejiang Province . It is located in the city of Linhai , one of beautiful National History and Culture Cities with the history of over 2,000 years. The city provides fast and convenient transportation by air or by bus, as it is only about 50 kilo to the airport and with the neighborhood of the juncture of Yong-Tai-Wen Highway and Up-three-line Highway . Taizhou University , with a long history of running the school, originated in 1907.
The university includes two big campuses: Linhai Campus and Jiaojiang Campus. Linhai Campus, awarded the first level of Garden Place, covers the area of more than 800,000 square meters, the floor space of over 230,000 square meters. The newly-built Jiaojiang Campus, with the area of 1,200,000 square meters and total investment of 900 million RMB , has been taken into use partly. Furthermore, it has got abundant digital resources. There are more than 1 million books, 3,000 periodical journals home and abroad in over 30 modern laboratories. In addition, there are numerous equipments of teaching and research as well as first-rate facilities such as standard track and field playgrounds and swimming pools.
The university consists of 13 departments or schools including the School of Humanities, School of Economic and Trade Management, School of Foreign Languages, School of Mathematics and Information Engineering, School of Physics and Electronic Engineering, School of Life Sciences, School of Pharmacy and Chemical, School of Physical Culture, School of Arts, School of Education, School of Mechanical and Electrical & Architectural Engineering, School of Medical Sciences, and the School of Adult Education. This university includes 30 Bachelor Degree programs and 20 Associate Degree programs, which covers nine branches of subjects, such as literature, natural science, engineering, management, law, education, history, medicine, and economics.
Currently, Taizhou University has a faculty of over 1,000 members, 700 of whom are full-professional teachers and 300 of whom have got senior professional certificates. In addition, Taizhou University has employed many well-known experts home and abroad as visiting professors.
At present, the full-time enrollment of Taizhou University exceeds 13,000 students, among which 7825 are undergraduates. On the principle of “Highlighting Students Talents”, the university adheres to develop “Professional People, Learned People and Worldwide People”. At this time, we have established communication and cooperation with nearly 20 higher institutions from Britain , Korea , Germany , Bulgaria , New Zealand , Argentina , Mexico , Ukraine and Sweden , with the outcome of four groups of oversea students and two groups of native students sent abroad.
