    1. Application Fee & Tuition Fee

Application fee of different major for different degree in every university varies from 90 USD to 150 USD, normally not in excess of 200 USD. Among all the programs offered by universities, MBBS may be the most expensive one regarding application fee. Besides, the higher ranking of a university in China’s University List, the more expensive of the application fee will be.

However, the tuition fee of Chinese universities is quite low compared with that of UK/USA. The estimated average tuition fee ranges from
3300 USD (around20,000 RMB) to 9900 USD (around 60,000RMB) per year.

Some universities in UK do not charge application fee, while universities like Cambridge/Oxford/LSE/IC/UCL etc. will charge 150 Pounds (around 250 USD) to 250 Pounds (around 410 USD). And tuition fee for all international students regardless of nationality, major, degree and university is at least beyond 10,000 Pounds (16362 USD) per year, which could be a great burden for mid-class family on a worldwide basis.

Among 1,474 schools in USA, only 39 of them are free of charge for application fees. The average application fee calculated based overall USA is 38.44 USD (tips: there are 282 schools do not offer their information on application fee). Although some schools are planning to cancel the application fee in order to ease the burden of students, that policy will only be limited to online application.

Large part of universities in Australia do not charge application fees, however, some universities will take a 100 Australian Dollars as application fee such as New Southwales University.

Tuition fee of an Australian university is around 3000 AUD (around 2700 USD) per year, which is about 15000 RMB.

  • Saving Money

If you would like to study Chinese language, the tuition fee varies between different cities. If your budget is limited, we suggest that you study in a smaller city or a city in Western China, where the studying expense will be decreased by 20% - 30%. These cities include: Xi'an, Chongqing, Chengdu, Wuhan, Changsha, Shenyang, Dalian, Qingdao, Lanzhou, Urumqi, Guiyang, etc. Meantime, the studying costs in such ‘first-tier’ cities as Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Dalian, or Guangzhou are much higher than other cities in China.
Specifically, if you would like to study an MBBS program which is taught in English entirely, the tuition fee will be more expensive than other programs in China. The cheapest MBBS program is provided byJiangsu University(in Zhenjiang) and is 22,000 RMB/year, while the most expensive one is offered byTongji University(in Shanghai) and is 50,000RMB/year. However, the average cost of MBBS programs is about 30,000RMB/year, which is equivalent to about 5,000USD/year.

If you can't afford the studying cost right now, we suggest you that you start by working on your Chinese. Then, if your HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) score is high enough, you may be eligible for aChinese Government Scholarship, which is available to assist international students study at Chinese universities.

    Note:
It is not necessary to bring large amounts of cash with you. Many Chinese shopping malls, shopping centers, supermarkets, cinemas, etc., can accept debit and credit cards and ATMs are plentiful in most towns and cities..
