Standing by the sea, thriving through the maritime heritage, and striving for maritime excellence, Guangzhou Maritime University (GMU) is the only maritime undergraduate institution in South China recognized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). In 2024, GMU further clarified its strategy of using the ‘dual engines’ of building a high-level application-oriented university and preparing for the establishment of Guangzhou Jiaotong University to drive its development. This marks the opening of a new chapter in its pursuit of high-quality development.
GMU adheres to an open approach, deeply integrating into the global higher education system. It
