Introduction of Nanjing Institute of Technology

Nanjing Institute of Technology (NJIT) is located in the ancient city of Nanjing, known for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance. NJIT is a standard undergraduate university administered directly by Jiangsu Province with centurial schooling history, profound engineering foundation, and distinct characteristics of application-oriented specialties, recognized as one of the initial pilot universities for the Ministry of Education's "Outstanding Engineer Education and Training Program" and the "CDIO Engineering Education Reform Program". Associated with the national pilot zone for innovative modes in cultivating electromechanical control talents, NJlT is a national model for the collaborative development of enterprises, universities, and research institutions, as well as the typical university experienced in promoting graduate employment of nationwide reputation. Additionally, NJIT has been designated as a national demonstration base for entrepreneurship incubation, serving as a directorial unit of China’s National Special Committee for Applied Undergraduate Colleges and Universities, a vice presidential unit of the National Development Alliance for Applied Graduate Education Universities, and a presidential unit for the Research Committee of the Applied Undergraduate Institutions of the Jiangsu ProvinciaHigher Education Association. In 2011, NJIT was selected as a pilot Master's degree programs institution for the "Serving the National Special Needs Talent Training Project". In 2019, NJIT gained approval for enrolling international students, and in 2021 the universitywas granted the authority to confer master's degrees.

The university possesses excellent educational facilities, covering an expansive area of nearly 200 hectares, including state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities and innovation platforms. It provides a refined environment for learning, complemented by well-developed living and recreational amenities. Currently, the university comprises 19 academic units, catering to over 25,000 full-time students, approximately 1,200 of whom are engaged in postgraduate studies. These students are supported by over 2,100 staff members of which more than 1,600 are dedicated full-time faculties.

NJIT actively engages in international communications and collaborations and has established enduring partnerships with diverse educational institutions from Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, Finland, the Netherlands, Sweden, New Zealand, South Korea, etc. Furthermore, it engages in joint educational programs with five universities in Finland, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the Netherlands. The university is a member of various alliances, including the "Sino-finnish Alliance of Universities of Applied Sciences", the "Jiangsu-Korea University Cooperation Consortium", the "Jiangsu-Canada University Cooperation Consortium", and the "Alliance of China-Thailand Universities". In 2023 with the approval of the Ministry of Education, a non-independent legal entity for Sino-foreign cooperative education, known as the NJIT-Qulu School, was established through a joint effort between NJlT and the University of Oulu in Finland. This marks an upgraded outcome of the collaborative efforts between the two universities over the past decade. Notably, the Oulu School is the sole Sino-foreign cooperative educational institution approved by the Chinese authorities for the University of Oulu within the country.
