Xi'an Railway Vocational & Technical Institute, founded in 1956, is located in the ancient civilization capital city-- Xi'an. It is a full-time general higher vocational college sponsored by Xi 'an Municipal People's Government. It is both the national high-quality vocational College and the demonstration vocational college of Shaanxi Province.
There are more than 15,000 students in institute and over 680 staff (among them, 178 teachers with senior titles and 315 with "double professional" titles, 1 expert with outstanding contribution enjoying the special government allowance of The State Council, 1 national excellent teacher, 4 outstanding teachers of Provincial title, and 11 vice chairmen or members of the National Committee of Action and Guidance). In addition, there are more than 200 extra professional and technical staff hired from Xi 'an Railway Bureau and other enterprises as part-time teachers. The College has established long-term cooperative relations with more than 70 railway bureaus and large enterprises in China. The institute provides 41 higher vocational majors, among which the high-speed railway and urban rail transit are the most famous specialties. The basic specialties include the advanced manufacturing industry, modern service industry and strategic emerging industry. There are 105 training rooms for urban rail, locomotive and vehicle on campus and 98 off-campus practice sites in Xi 'an Railway Bureau, Xi 'an Metro Company and other enterprises. The college is one of the first institutions to implement the vocational qualification certificate system in China, and the graduates' "double certificate" acquisition rate is more than 80%. Students have participated in the National Vocational College Skills Competition and other professional skills competitions and won more than 200 awards at the provincial and ministerial level and above.
Our institute pay much attention to international exchange and cooperation. In our institute, the college of International Transportation is a China-foreign cooperative education institution jointly run by our institute and St. Petersburg State Transport University. It is one of the earliest China-foreign cooperative education college in higher vocational colleges in Shaanxi Province.
The institute of International Transportation implements a three-year college diploma education with a size of 760 students, 129 students are studying in St. Petersburg State Transport University of Russia, 27 students have obtained master's degrees. The first batch of overseas students from Thailand graduated in 2021. A seminar on “One-belt One Road” for experts and teachers who engaged in railway was held. Some experts were sent to Kenya. They helped the local government train 180 professional workers for Mombasa-Nairobi Railway project. "China-Africa Transport University" has been established with Chang 'an University. XARVTI has devoted to developing the international exchanges and cooperation, bilingual teaching processing and international Chinese education have also been promoted. The teachers who majored in Russian are experienced and professional, they completed two professional international standards. The apartments with standardized facilities for foreign students and foreign experts have been put into use.
The institute has won the prizes of "National Advanced School of Vocational and Technical Education", "National Advanced School of Railway Vocational and Technical Education", "Advanced Collective of Education Informatization in Shaanxi Province", "Huang Yanpei Excellent School Award", and was given the name of "Civilized Campus" and "Safe Campus" by the CPC Shaanxi Provincial Committee and the Shaanxi province government.
